Officer Spotlight

Alison A. Griffin, AKBD
V
P of Technology and Communications

NKBA Member since 2005

Industry Segment: Designer – Canterbury Design

Past Positions:

Committee member – Technologies & Communications

Brief Description of Main Responsibilities:

Essentially, I am the marketing manager for our chapter. I am responsible for chapter public relations and internal communications, which includes publicizing chapter events, sharing success stories, and educating our members and the public about NKBA benefits and certifications, via our chapter website and other media outlets.

Why I Volunteered:

A couple of years ago, I offered to help the former VP of Technology and Communications with a major revision of the chapter website. I continued my involvement because I enjoyed the networking opportunities and friendships that I developed with the other board members. As well, I have a greater appreciation for the educational and career opportunities that this chapter provides.

A little bit about me . . .

It only took me fifteen years to figure out “what I should do when I grow up.” With a bachelor's degree in international relations, an associate's degree in fashion design, and ten years designing textile prints, I was happy to finally find a career that embraced my creative mind, technical inclinations, and love of architecture.

I am in my sixth year practicing as a kitchen designer and am currently working to refine my drafting skills so that I can get my CKD certification.
